Without Sanctuary - A Discussion on Lynching

Greetings, Class Community.

We did not have much time to go into detail about lynching in class.  Please review the information on the Musarium: Without Sanctuary: Lynching Photography in America(video)

"Searching through America's past for the last 25 years, collector James Allen uncovered an extraordinary visual legacy: photographs and postcards taken as souvenirs at lynchings throughout America."  http://withoutsanctuary.org/movie_play.html

How does this information challenge, affirm and/or complicate your previous knowledge and understanding of lynching in American Culture?  Do you think acts of lynching impacted the Black communities beyond the initial emotional impact? If so, how?
